Juggernaut definition: a massive inexorable force, campaign, movement, or object that crushes whatever is in its path.
Holiday Road was an unstoppable juggernaut of rock n’ roll energy at J&A Tap in North Liberty on Friday, February 25, 2011! Shannon and the band kept the packed house dancing, singing and having a great time all night long.
Shannon rocked the house!
Then Shannon and Allison rocked it again!
Ken kept the beat going strong all night long!
Allison gave those keyboards and the guitar some heavy duty work outs!
Chris got the bass thumpin’ and the rhythms pumpin’!!
Walter made those guitar strings go nutzoid!!
The house was packed and folks were dancing the night away!
Mike and Craig were there and added to the fun!
Krista, Lori and Roze were having a blast! Special thanks to Krista for taking the pix!
Shannon and Mike are just a little slice of the Joy Division!!
Thanks to all our friends and everyone who made it a great time for the band and the audience. We’ll see you again for more J&A juggernaut-ification on Friday April 1 and that’s no April Fool’s joke!!

Holiday Road brought 1970s Disco Fever to 3 Finger Saloon in Lisbon on February 5, 2011. As a special birthday request from 3 Fingers owner Luke Krall, Holiday Road put together a set featuring some Disco classics-Jive Talking, Get Down Tonight, I Love the Nightlife, I Will Survive and Hot Stuff. Holiday Road rocked in the New Year at the American Legion in Springville! Friends and families got together to celebrate the new year and have a toast to all things great and small. Shannon and Allie were ready to rock da house!
Ken got the drums tuned up and primed to wail!
Our new bass player Chris Bird provided smooth funky bass lines and vocals throughout the new year show!
Walter wore an Allman Brothers Eat A Peach tee shirt as a tribute to his late nephew Tyler Benjamin Seaman, who wore that shirt to many a concert and party.
Our friends Shelly and Brian Gehl (from Shelly’s Restaurant, home of the best carrot cake in 3 or 4 dimensions!!) were on hand to help the house get down!!
HR buds Brian Gehl and David Brown were there early to kick off the jams right from the start!
We’re always happy to see the Levasseur family and their friends! When they’re around, we know some Hendrix and Cream songs better be on the menu!
Folks were dancing like there was no more 2010 and they were right!! A great time was had by everyone.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR FRIENDS!! LET’S HOPE 2011 IS THE BEST OF ALL FOR ONE AND ALL!!

Pictures from the Halloween Party at Gus’s are now in the photo section. We had a killer time there as always! Pass an evil eye over photos and check out all the creature features. We had Edward Scissorhands, the Tooth Fairy, and a Giant Whoopie Cushion to name a few.

It really is appalling that the last post entitled “New New New Stuff” was written way back on Cinco de Mayo. So before moving on to actually new stuff (or even stuff from four months ago for that matter) I’m first going to pay penance to that fact by posting some old old old stuff.

The word “holiday” comes from the OLD English hAligdæg, literally meaning holy day. It is a day set aside for focusing on something beyond the every-day things, possibly a day to reset or refreshen one’s soul.

“Road” comes from the OLD English rAd meaning ride or journey. So the Holiday Road might be the journey to refresh one’s soul, or the quest to enliven one’s passions. Or maybe even the search for a theme park called WallyWorld. Best ask Mr. Buckingham, I guess.

And for the final OLD stuff (or would the singular be stuffi?) I give you a caveman inventing the wheel.

All sorts of new stuff to report. First, we had a killer time at the Riverside Casino in April. What a great place to play! It is beautiful and the staff is super accomodating. Roger’s amp blew out during a song and they were right there within seconds plugging in another one. Rich, U R da Man! We got lots of pictures in the photo section taken by Mike Breazeale of Breazeale Photography. He’s got a picture of a sweet looking motorcycle on his website at the moment.

|

Since then, we’ve been rockin’ at Charlie’s and Gus’s. Check out the pictures from Charlie’s taken by some of Shannon’s Body Combat cohorts. They were all jamming with their martial arts moves. It could have been a TV special on Fox called “When Line Dancing Attacks!“
